Genesis Leon's Story

Genesis Leon is currently a third-year medical student at Rutgers, New Jersey Medical school in Newark, NJ. She graduated from Brandeis University in 2016 as a Posse scholar and subsequently worked for two years as a medical scribe prior to matriculating into medical school. She will be applying to Emergency Medicine residency programs next year as part of the United States Army Health Professions Scholarship Program. Her professional interests include medical education curriculum development, analyzing health disparities, 

While in medical school, she has served on the executive boards for the Latino Medical Student Association as the Student National Medical Association, and worked with the Admissions Department as a tour guide and student interviewer. She is very passionate about mentoring and serving the future generation of physicians and is excited about helping others start their path into the field.
