What is radiology?
Radiologists specialize in diagnosing and treating conditions through the use of medical imaging such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI imaging, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. After medical school, these physicians must complete a four-year residency program. They can sub-specialize in interventional radiology, radiation oncology, or pediatric radiology with an additional one- or two-year fellowship. There are various other subspecialties to explore! Your radiologist plays an essential role in your health by acting as an expert consultant for the referring physician. They interpret and report on the resulting images and recommend treatment. Radiologists may also perform minimally-invasive procedures - angioplasties, needle biopsies, etc and provide treatment such as radiation therapy.

Dr. Marlena Jbara
Mother, physician, artist and physician life coach - Dr. Marlena Jbara is a lifelong learner and remains a student at heart. After graduating from SUNY Brooklyn’s BA/MD Program, she became a radiologist specializing in biomechanics and diseases of the foot and ankle. Dr Jbara is a leader in Podiatric Radiology, developing curricula for academic programs. Co-founders of GrooveMDs.com, Dr. Jbara and Dr. Tam are two recovering Physician burnouts dedicated to helping physicians Have it All. Creating community through art is a mission of GrooveMDs. To help bring the power of art to her community, Dr. Jbara is currently serving on the American College of Radiology specialized Arts Task Force to bring the power of art into our visual thinking strategies. This Exhibition of Art for and by radiologists highlights the intersection of Health, Wellness and Art.
